Fund MarketingGermany

Marketing that knows
what a Spezialfonds is.

For asset managers, fund boutiques and ETF providers entering the German market: I run your marketing here. In German, with German distribution culture in mind, and with the industry knowledge this market expects.

01 — The situation

Translated marketing doesn't sell funds.

Germany is one of Europe's largest fund markets, and one of its most particular. Distribution runs through structures that barely exist elsewhere: independent advisors and pools, funds of funds, family offices, institutional investors with a vocabulary of their own. English materials get polite nods. Translated materials get spotted in the second sentence.

Building a German marketing team for a market you are just entering rarely makes sense. So the job lands on the local sales hire, who has no time for it, or on an agency back home that has never heard of a Spezialfonds. Both show.

02 — The vocabulary

Four words your agency
back home does not know.

Spezialfonds
Spezialfonds
[ shpe-tsyahl-fonds ]

The fund vehicle German institutional investors actually buy. If your pitch does not know it, your pitch is over.

Vertriebszulassung
Vertriebszulassung
[ fair-treeps-tsoo-lah-soong ]

Marketing permission for your fund in Germany. Getting it is a process. Explaining it to head office is another one.

Dachfonds
Dachfonds
[ dakh-fonds ]

A fund of funds. Literally a roof fund. The people running them read German quarterlies, not your English factsheet.

Anlageausschuss
Anlageausschuss
[ ahn-lah-guh-ows-shoos ]

The investment committee your sales deck has to survive. It meets in German.

You will never have to learn these words. That is rather the point of korilla!.

03 — Why korilla

I know this market from the inside.

Two decades in German finance: in-house at one of the country's large third-party ManCos, and since 2015 working with asset managers, fund initiators and the analysts who cover the market. korilla! is the agency built on that experience. Marketing for fund companies, from strategy to execution.

01

The market.

Pools, funds of funds, family offices, institutional consultants: I know who buys funds in Germany and what they read.

02

The language.

Your materials get written in German, not translated into it. Financial German included.

The execution.

I don't advise and hand over. I design, write, build and deliver. From sales deck to website.

06 — FAQ

Questions international
managers ask.

Do you work in English?

Daily. Deliverables for the German market are written in German; the collaboration itself, calls, briefings, reporting, runs in English wherever you prefer.

Where are you based?

Hamburg. Working Germany-wide, remote and on site.

What does a typical engagement look like?

Usually a monthly mandate: korilla! acts as your external German marketing department, sized to what the market entry needs. Project work, a website or a launch, works too.

Does this replace a local hire?

For most entrants, yes, at least at the start. Faster than recruiting, senior from day one, and cancellable.

Who is behind korilla!?

Jakob Koll. More than twenty years in marketing and communications, most of it in and around the German fund industry.

And what is the gorilla in the room?

The question everyone sees and nobody asks. Every market entry has a few. korilla! starts there. It is also the logo.
